RÜSSELSHEIM, GERMANY – The highly anticipated FICA-RCC Youth Cricket Workshop 2025 concluded on March 2, 2025, after two days of intensive training and mentorship. Hosted at the indoor facility of RCC e.V. in Rüsselsheim, the workshop brought together young cricketers, coaches, and sports enthusiasts for an enriching experience.
The event commenced with an opening ceremony graced by Chief Guest Ms. Anette Tettenborn, Head of the Department at Sportamt Rüsselsheim. The workshop received media coverage from Main Spitze, with a reporter and photographer capturing key moments of the event. RCC team members, FICA e.V. players, and coaching staff were in attendance, while Mr. Saud Ahmed from RCC served as the event host.
RCC e.V. President Mr. Mohsin Hayat welcomed Ms. Tettenborn with a bouquet, followed by Dr. Shahzad Nawaz Syed presenting her with a "Thank You Trophy" in recognition of Sportamt Rüsselsheim's continuous support. Additionally, RCC e.V. Vice President Dr. Ashapakh Shaikh extended a warm welcome to FICA Head Coach Mr. Abhijit Khan by presenting him with a bouquet.
In her address to the youth teams of RCC and FICA, Ms. Tettenborn acknowledged cricket as a relatively new sport for Sportamt Rüsselsheim but expressed her optimism about its promising future. She assured RCC of her full support, emphasizing the club’s role in enriching both the local community and the town. She also conveyed greetings from Lord Mayor Patrick Burghardt to the young cricketers in attendance. As a gesture of appreciation, she welcomed Mr. Abhijit Khan and presented him with an award on behalf of RCC and Sportamt Rüsselsheim.
FICA Sporting Director Mr. R. Sethuraman introduced Mr. Abhijit Khan to the participants, after which Mr. Khan delivered an inspiring speech. He underscored the significance of such workshops in preparing young athletes for competitive cricket, highlighting how training and high-intensity drills will equip them for potential Olympic-level participation in 2028. As a token of appreciation, Mr. Khan presented Ms. Tettenborn with a souvenir from Belgium National Cricket.
The two-day workshop covered all key aspects of cricket, including technical skills, mental resilience, and game strategies. Participants engaged in structured coaching sessions, culminating in a friendly cricket match. Mr. Abhijit Khan was supported by FICA coaching team members Mr. Hashim and Mr. Rayyan Zafar in delivering the training program.
